Design Dynamic Virtual Learning with AI Powered Tools which I will presented at DevLearn
Thank you to everyone who attended my live interactive talk at the DevLearn 2024 Conference on transforming passive ‘click-and-save’ learning into dynamic, narrative-driven experiences that immerse learners and drive engagement—using the power of AI and storytelling. Preparing and presenting this talk was a rewarding and dream-fulfilling experience to present before hundreds of highly credentialed learning professionals at DevLearn, North America’s largest learning technology conference. I appreciated the engagement, the ideas shared, and the follow-ups received after the session and after the conference. Thank you all so much!
In my session, we covered how to transform passive ‘click-and-save’ learning into dynamic, narrative-driven experiences that immerse learners and drive engagement—using the power of AI and storytelling.
First we reviewed how virtual learning often falls into the “Netflix learning” trap—relying on passive lectures, basic chat, and polls. This leads to disengaged teams, low retention, and instructor burnout. But what if we could break free from this static approach and create dynamic, immersive learning experiences that spark real engagement?
Next, we dove into how to transform standard webinars into captivating, multiplayer narrative-driven experiences. We started by examining the shift from passive ‘click-and-save’ learning to fostering a vibrant community where learners feel connected and motivated. You learned how to use time-tested narrative design techniques to build immersive themes that align with learning objectives and cultivate meaningful interactions.
Next, we explored a simple but powerful content production process for converting SME knowledge into dynamic microlearning videos and interactive exercises—all while leveraging AI-powered tools to streamline creation and delivery. We explored both free and paid AI-enhanced tools that can turn your content into compelling learning modules.
Finally, we uncovered strategies to ensure your courses deliver measurable value at every stage—before, during, and after the session. You left with practical tips for achieving measurable outcomes sooner, while creating virtual learning experiences that your learners (and you!) will actually look forward to.
The link to the presentation deck, references, and an example pitch document is available in the thank-you message you’ll receive after entering your email to subscribe to my bimonthly newsletter. The newsletter will include future articles on learning experience design hacks, invites to virtual skill-building events, and reviews of new AI-powered media tools for learning content production.
Thank you again for joining me at the session and for taking the time to explore how to transform virtual meetings from ones that drag into ones that captivate, inspire, and connect your learners. Let’s stay connected!
